Bob was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia where he attended public schools. He graduated from Troup High in 1965. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

He earned a B.S. Degree in Education from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Divinity from Emory University. Bob has served seven different churches in the South Georgia Conference from 1976 to the present.

Bob is married to Marlene Norwood from Glenwood, Georgia. They have two children, Angela Wilson of Summertown, Georgia and Ben Norwood of Savannah, Georgia. They have three grandsons, Luke Wilson, Caleb Wilson and Evan Wilson.

Bob and Marlene are currently serving Liberty United Methodist Church of Macon, Georgia.
