Walden Rest Home Visited by Liberty Youth Senior High

On Sunday, February 11, 2007, our senior high youth members produced the fruits of their labors.  These teenagers took their time to make pillows full of love so they could provide a little happiness to the elderly in this rest home.  At right are photographs of these students distributing their pillows to the tenants of Walden Rest Home.  Liberty United Methodist Church has visited several rest homes in the vicinity of Macon, Ga.  Walden rest home has repeatedly welcomed them to their facility.  This helps to provide the residents with comfort and compassion that some of them desperately need.  These teenagers are a shining example of Liberty's Youth Group pushing Christianity to work.

Liberty Youth High School Students Take Vow of Purity Until Marriage

On Wednesday, February 14, 2007, Liberty UMC's High School youth group join their parents and guardians in a ceremony celebrating their vow to God to stay pure until they have married.  These students participated in a three week class involving presentations from the Bibb County Health Department, the Department of Family & Children Services and a final presentation from Liberty's Youth Pastor, Jeanette McClure.  They now bear a ring on their ring finger quoting 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4. "It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable;"(NIV)  These students will give this ring to their partner after marriage as a representation of their purity and the vows that they made on Valentine's Day, 2007.

Liberty Youth Members Meet Member of Allman Brothers Band

On Sunday, March 11, 2007, Liberty United Methodist Youth met Oteil Burbridge

at Vineville United Methodist Church.  Oteil Burbridge is the bass player for the

Allman Brothers Band.  Oteil is considered one of the top bass players in the

world, and has his own band known as "The Peacemakers."  The Peacemakers

put on contemporary Christian music concerts as well as funk/jazz appearances.

While performing their concert at Vineville UMC, he also gave his Christian

testimony during the concert.  You can get more information about this band

at www.oteilburbridge.com.  Thank you Vineville UMC for inviting our youth to

this event.  Not only was it inspirational for the youth, but the adults could even relate to this, just like you promised.

Senior Youth Put Together Sunday Service and Decorate Cross

On Sunday, March 25, 2007, after months of preparation and practice, the Liberty Youth Senior High hosted both the 8:30 am and the 11:00 am church service for Liberty United Methodist Church.  Pearl Driven performed live at the 8:30 am service while a few members of the band also assisted in the 11:00 am service.  The children's chorus also assisted in a song with Pearl Driven. This service was also broadcasted on television.  Liturgical dancers and solo singers added to the entertainment for the congregation.  After both of the services, the congregation went out front and placed flowers on the cross.
